Church Signs

Ever wonder where they come up with those clever signs outside churches?
Our church has a sign with the changeable letters. We like to put up thoughtful and inspirational messages as well as information about spaghetti dinners, bazaars and so on.

The biggest problem is there are only three lines with about 20 spaces on each line, and with limited punctuation, being theologically profound can be challenging.

We make no claims to complete originality, friends send us stuff from the Net, we paraphrase greater thinkers than ourselves, we find quotes everywhere. If you see something that you have copyrighted and don't wish to be quoted, let us know.

Some of our signs are posted below. Check back every month or so, because we'll keep adding to the lists.

YOU MEAN MORE
LET'S CELEBRATE
ADVENT TOGETHER

The Anglican Diocese of Niagara ran a radio ad campaign during Advent, the weeks prior to Christmas, inviting people to come to church. This sign reflected the Diocesan slogan "You Mean More"

ENJOY  THE
CHRISTMAS  PRESENCE
PEACE   HOPE   JOY   LOVE

An after-Christmas/Epiphany sign

  • To make you think

AN EYE FOR AN EYE
WILL MAKE
THE WORLD BLIND

A quote from Gandhi

ANGLICAN
BUT
NOT STUFFY

Our church services have a reputation for being a little more raucous and lively than most other Anglican churches (and that's the way we like it!).
