History: Québec City was founded by Samuel de Champlain in 1608. The area within the old ramparts was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1985. These ramparts are the only fortified city wall remaining in the Americas north of Mexico. Here is a link to a Wikipedia article about the city.
