25 pounder Howitzer
History: | The 25 pounder gun/howitzer was the standard field artillery piece for the Canadians and other Commonwealth forces
in the Second World War and Korea. This Canadian built piece has the tactical signs for the 11th Field Battery, RCA which was raised
in the Hamilton-Wentworth area. The plaque was unveiled 20 Oct. 1971 by the Lt. Gov. of Ontario, Colonel the Honourable William Ross MacDonald PC, CD, QC, LLD. The gun was dedicated on 11 Nov. 2001 to the war and peace veterans of Dundas and district. |
