History: | Hamilton & Scourge Naval Memorial Garden commemorates the sinking of two United States Navy War
of 1812 schooners in Lake Ontario in the early morning hours of August 8, 1813. The garden was established in 1983 by the City
of Hamilton. The actual ships, which are still at the bottom of Lake Ontario, are a National Historic Site. Here is a link to a site published by the City of Hamilton. |
